New emergency phone number for Nunavut

Nunavummiut can now choose between two numbers when phoning

for help from the RCMP, depending on whether the call is an emergency.

For emergencies, residents should dial the regular first three digits of their community's phone numbers, followed by 1111. For example, if someone is being attacked in Cape Dorset, the caller phones 897-1111.

In non-emergency situations, such as a window being broken, or a bike being stolen, residents should call the first three digits of their community's phone numbers, followed by 0123. For example, if someone finds their skidoo is missing in Cambridge Bay, the caller phones 983-0123.10
