This Thanksgiving Monday the History Channel will broadcast a new production
from Igloolik Isuma Productions' director Zach Kunuk, the Kunuk Family Reunion.
The hour-long documentary, which airs at 9 p.m., takes a loving look at a gathering
of the Kunuk clan during June 2003 in Sioraajuk, a traditional camp near Igloolik.
The film follows family members for two weeks as they hunt seals, tell stories,
and enjoy the long days of warmer weather.
Kunuk Family Reunion features the Kunuk family as its cast including director
Zach Kunuk, his parents, Enuki Kunuk and Vivi Kunuk, Zacharias Aqqiaru Oqalik,
Joanasi Sarpinak, Paul Irngaut, Elijah Kunuk, Rebecca Kadloo, Levi Barnabas,
Mary Kunuk, Jerry Iyyeraq, and Methusaleh Kunuk as well as many other Iglulingmiut.
During the film, Enuki Kunuk, accompanied by his son, Zach, finally locates
the long-lost grave of his late father: you won't want to miss this event, slowly
revealed by the patient and meticulous camerawork typical of other Igloolik
Isuma Productions that have been directed by Kunuk and filmed by Norman Cohn.
