Farmers market in Iqaluit?
Saturday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Francophone Centre. The Francophone Centre holds its annual Agri-Food fair. Come out to taste and buy Canadian specialty products, including vegetables, jams, cheese, pates and maple syrup.
Coffee House Saturday
Saturday, Oct. 15, 7:30 p.m., Inuksuk High School. The Iqaluit Music Society presents its first coffee house of the season. Donations will go towards school and community music programming.
Bill Mackenzie Humanitarian Society AGM
Sunday, Oct. 16, 2 p.m., the Elk’s Lodge. This non-profit organization, created in memory of a former Iqaluit resident, will elect its first board of directors. Come on out to see how you can serve your community, protect the environment and make use of the resources currently being trashed at the landfill. For more info, call Jim Little at 979-3261.

Craft and Bake Sale
Saturday, Oct. 22, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Parish Hall, admission $1. The John Howard Society of Nunavut is sponsoring a craft and bake sale. Tables cost $15 and can be reserved by leaving a message at 979-7724 or calling 979-7801. JHSN is also seeking donations of toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand soap, small shampoos and face cloths.

Radio hosts wanted
Saturday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Francophone Centre, building 981. CFRT 107.3 FM, Iqaluit’s community radio station, is looking for volunteers (with or without experience) to host an Inuktitut radio program once a week. Drop by CFRT’s open house to find out more.
Beats for eats
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2 – 7 p.m., Inuksuk High School. The Nunavut Food Bank holds its annual fundraising concert, with bands, face paint and a yard sale. Admission: Food or funds.
Take Back the Night March
Thursday, Oct. 13, 6:30 p.m. This year’s march against violence against women starts behind the Frobisher Inn and follows a route that is known to be more dangerous to women, all the way to the Parish Hall for a coffee house with speakers, entertainment and refreshments.
