Apphia Killiktee, a community health representative in Pond Inlet, works through an online nutrition course for Nunavut health workers. Every year, about 100 people sign up to learn about food groups, vitamins, healthy eating, the importance of breast-feeding, and common illnesses. “The completion rate is similar to online courses in southern universities,” said Amy Caughey, a health promotion specialist for the Department of Health and Social Services. “Elders were taking it even before it was translated.” (PHOTO COURTESY OF OPEN 2 LEARN)
