Brighter Futures in Iqaluit

NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Iqaluit city council recently approved several local requests for funding from Brighter Futures and Building Healthy Communities.

Those include:

  • $5,700 for Yoga for Youth, with the stipulation that in future years, this program be offered by a qualified local instructor;
  • $7,500 for the Sprouts Summer Camp program;
  • $15,000 for the Qaqqiq Theatre Company’s series of Theatre for Living workshops and performances;
  • $9,600 for Judo Nunavut’s Eclipse School Program;
  • $9,000 for the Aakuluk Day Care children’s snack and lunch program.

The Niksiit Commmittee reviews all proposals and makes recommendations to council.
