Jimmy Jacquard, president of the Federation of Nunavut Teachers, Louis Tapardjuk, Nunavut’s human resources minister and David Simailak, Nunavut’s finance minister, sign the recently ratified collective agreement for Nunavut’s teachers this past Tuesday. Sixty per cent of Nunavut’s 630 teachers said yes to the deal in a vote. The new agreement guarantees wage increases that will cost the Government of Nunavut an extra $16 million over the deal’s four year lifespan.
