Dope dealer nabbed at Iqaluit airport
“It’s disturbing when you see that kind of money being used to buy drugs”

A drug dealer’s two-week stay in Igloolik ended badly when RCMP nabbed him at Iqaluit’s airport on his way back down south.
Last Friday, members of RCMP’s drug section arrested a surprised Scott Russell Doster, 45, of Gatineau, Quebec, with what police called a “significant amount” of cash, in addition to a few carvings, in his bags.
Doster appeared in court on Monday and pleaded guilty to possession of property obtained by crime and drug trafficking. He received a nine month jail sentence, a one-year probation order and an order to forfeit his money and carvings.
Cpl. Todd Walsh of RCMP’s “V” Division drug unit said residents in Igloolik tipped off police about Doster’s drug dealing during his stay in the community between Sept. 13 and Sept. 29.
“We’re happy about that, but obviously it’s disturbing when you see that kind of money being used to buy drugs, and we know it could be used to buy better stuff, such as supplies or food. And to see that kind of money leaving a community like that over a very short time, it’s disturbing,” Walsh said.
According to police, Doster had been selling marijuana, mainly for cash and occasionally for carvings.
Doster did not appear to be working with a larger network of dealers, however.
Police say he had previously been employed in Iqaluit.
