  For our coverage of the 1995 conflict of interest scandal connected to the GNWT's $90 million eastern Arctic fuel supply contract, and a $6 million contract to build a tank farm in Rankin Inlet. Consulting editor Jim Bell won first prize in this contest.

  For an editorial about two NWT MLAs who were arrested for liquor violations. Consulting editor Jim Bell won first prize in this contest.
  
  
• The CCNA'S 1994 Best Editorial Award
  For an editorial written in response to a territorial cabinet minister who threatened to punish Nunatsiaq News by witholding government advertising. Editor Todd Phillips won third prize in this contest.
  
  
• Best CCNA Feature Story for 1994
  For a series on suicide in Iqaluit. Reporter Lisa Gregoire won third prize in this contest
  
  
• Best use of Advertising Clip Art
  For a community service ad promoting the use of school buses in Iqaluit. Advertising manager Bill McConkey and production artist Krista Thompson won first prize in this contest.
