Hunters complain of bad gas

Iqaluit seems to be suffering the same fuel problems hunters in other Nunavut communities have been experiencing.

In the capital city, there’s a strong suspicion among hunters and snowmobile outfitters that the fuel supply is contaminated.

City councillor Glenn Williams told the city council that he has heard complaints from hunters that their snowmobiles, some of them new machines, are breaking down.

Williams said they’re having problems with pistons, carburetors, piston rings and crank shafts. Just last weekend, he said, six machines broke down. Two others broke down on a trip from Kimmirut.
