Suspicious death in Salluit
Crime specialists with
Quebecs provincial police, the Sûreté du Québec, are
still investigating the death of Kumakuluk Salaisie, 34, which occurred last
week in Salluit.
"For us, its
still a suspicious death," said Ronald McInnes, spokesman for the SQ.
Two of Salaisies
friends found his dead body on Saturday morning.
"He had a rope around
his neck," McInnes said. "And there was also a lot of blood in the
house, but it didnt seem to come from the deceased."
Investigators havent
ruled out the scenario of a violent domestic argument followed by a suicide.
Police speculate that Salaisie
could have hung himself after a fight in which he injured another person with
a knife.
Booze and fights were apparently
common in Salaisies household, although police are waiting the results
of the investigation before commenting on the role that alcohol played in Salaisies
death.
A blood-splash specialist
and a crime-scene specialist arrived in Salluit earlier this week to examine
the house where Salaisie died. An autopsy will be performed in Montreal.
