Bad gas causes a stink

The standing committee gathered to hear a motion raised by Quttiktuk Rebekah Williams about bad gas in several communities last week, and members of several of the territory’s wildlife boards packed into the gallery.

Hunters in different regions have been saying for months that there is something wrong with the fuel they’re using in their tanks. "The state of gasoline quality may have a direct negative impact on snowmobiles, outboard motors and all-terrain vehicles which harvesters rely on for making a livelihood," wrote Joannie Ikkidluak, chairperson of the Qikiqtaaluk Wildlife Board, in a letter tabled in the assembly.
