Spring is in the air
Fun times and spring celebrations
will hit Nunavuts capital city next week.
Toonik Tyme, Iqaluits

This is the 37th year for
Toonik Tyme.
Theres an array of
outdoor games and races planned for the four-day event.
On Thursday April 18, igloo
builders will strut their stuff in the igloo-building contest. In addition,
an ice sculpting competition will take place.
On Friday April 19, golfers
will tee off on the Frobisher Bay sea ice.
The following day, seamstresses
and carvers will sell their handiwork in the Toonik Tyme craft fair.
A fairly new addition to
Toonik Tyme, the Iqaluit strength challenge, takes place on Saturday April 20.
This event tests endurance and strength, seeing who can pull, toss, carry or

The City of Iqaluits
recreation department, along with a host of local volunteers, helped organize
