Teen sent for assessment
An 18-year-old boy charged
with various sex offences involving children is finally heading to the Alberta
Hospital for a psychiatric assessment. Justice Robert Kilpatrick ordered the
assessment in June 2001 as part of the teens 14-month sentence.
This week almost
a year later a space was made for him at the southern facility.
Kilpatrick recently raised
concerns about releasing the youth before a treatment program is established.
A program cannot be established until the assessment is complete. The teen is
set to be released on Aug. 8. A 22-month probation period follows his release.
