More recycling bins

Iqaluit residents who have yet to pick up their blue plastic recycling bins have another chance.

The Iqaluit Recycling Society will be at Northmart this weekend from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday with more of the bins.

Homes in Iqaluit are asked to separate their household plastics into blue garbage bags, which fit nicely into the blue bins. The bags are picked up by the city like regular garbage bags. The collected plastics are baled together and sent south to be recycled, rather than going to the landfill as some plastics give off toxins when burned.
