Kuujjuaq man charged with murder

Bobby Partridge, 22, of Kuujjuaq, was charged last week with second degree murder in the death of David Kooktook, 47, "on or about April 14, 2002."

On Apr. 14, the Kativik Regional Police in Kuujjuaq received a call saying there was a body that was not breathing in an apartment. They arrived at the scene and found the dead man, who was later identified as Kooktook.

Major crime investigators from the provincial police force examined the crime scene and confirmed there were signs of violence in the apartment, said Sûreté du Québec spokesperson, Ronald McInnes.

An autopsy showed Kooktook died from injuries caused by a severe beating delivered by feet and fists.

Partridge was arrested following tips from members of the public who had been asked by police for any information relating to Kooktook’s death.

The motive for Kooktook’s murder may have been robbery, say police.
