Billion-dollar deal signed in Quebec City

In Quebec City on Thursday, the Quebec government, Makivik Corporation, and the Kativik Regional Government were to commemorate the ratification of the deal on economic and community development in Nunavik, which was signed at Makivik’s annual general meeting in April.

The leaders planned to unveil a virtual model of an inuksuk that will be erected on the Quebec parliament grounds this fall. Built with rocks from every community in Nunavik, the inuksuk is intended to symbolize the new relationship between the Quebec and Nunavimmiut.

The deal, officially called the Sanarrutik agreement, has already been nicknamed the "Inuksuk" deal by southern media.

Bike rally

In an effort to improve bike safety in Kuujjuaq, the Kativik Regional Police Force is holding its annual bike rally on June 16. Young bikers are invited to the Kuujjuaq Forum from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a barbecue, prizes, bike repairs and safety tips.
