TV show looking for "outstanding
local kid"
A crew from the television
show Canadian Geographic Kids will be in Iqaluit from Sept. 21 to 23 and in
Rankin Inlet from Oct. 1 to 3.
The program is aimed at
children aged six to 12 and shows them what different parts of the country are
like. It aims to depict how the geography of a place affects the lives of kids
in the area.
While in Nunavut, the crew
is interested in covering community feasts, throat singing, northern games,
Inuksuit-making and mining.
"A good portion of
the show involves meeting an outstanding local kid (aged 12-16) who can give
us his or her perspective on the area," writes Frank Young, the programs
story editor.
CG Kids airs nationally
on APTN.
