Waiting for the bus

This October, Iqalungmiut will have a new way of travelling around the city.

A pubic transit system is starting on Oct. 21, and will run for four weeks.

It’s a trial run to see if Iqaluit residents will ride the busses on a regular basis. It will also show the project’s planners which routes are the most popular.

If the trial run is a success, the city may look into implementing a full-time transit system.

The city ran a popular bus service during the Arctic Winter Games. Because of the level of interest, the city started researching the possibility of regular public transit for Iqaluit.
