Coroner calls it quits

Nunavut’s chief coroner has quit.

Elizabeth Copeland, the first female Inuk to hold the position mandated to investigate suspicious deaths and implement the Nunavut Coroners’ Act, said she decided not to renew her contract as she had made a commitment to remain as chair of the Nunavut Impact Review Board.

Tim Neily, Nunavut’s administrative coroner, will take over Copeland’s duties until a replacement is found.
