Concerned spouse tips off police to husband’s drinking

Nathaniel Kunangnat, 36, of Baker Lake will serve the remaining four months of a six-month conditional sentence at Baffin Correctional Centre.

Kunangnat pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of his conditional sentence when he was found intoxicated on Sept. 2.

The Baker Lake resident was under a court order not to drink. The conditional sentence was part of his sentence for threatening a police officer on June 11.

The court heard that Kunangnat’s spouse called RCMP on Sept. 2 when she discovered her intoxicated husband.

"It’s a concern your wife called the police. She must have been worried about your drinking," said Justice Beverley Browne.
