New lawyer for GN in wrongful dismissal suit

The government of Nunavut is switching lawyers in the case of Katherine Trumper versus the GN.

Charles Hackland of Gowling Lafleur Henderson, an Ottawa-based firm, now represents the GN.

A notice of change was filed in the Nunavut Court of Justice on Oct. 28 by Susan Hardy, Nunavut’s acting deputy attorney general.

Originally, the GN was represented by lawyers from the government’s attorney general’s office.

Trumper, a former deputy minister with the department of sustainable development, is seeking financial compensation in a wrongful dismissal suit.

A statement of defence had not been filed by press-time.
