Accused Iqaluit thieves held in custody

Two Iqaluit men are in custody, and the Iqaluit RCMP now have a large stash of stolen goods in their possession after police searches turned up property stolen from a variety of local businesses and residences over the past year.

They believe one of the men is responsible for breaking into the Francophone Association building, the public health building, Baffin Flower and Gifts, and the liquor warehouse.

Elijah Jonah, 29, of Iqaluit is charged with 14 counts of fraud, five counts of break and enter, and two counts of theft.

Jamesie Kakee, 20, is charged with 12 counts of break and enter.
