Third person charged in March crack bust

RCMP have charged a third person in connection with a crack bust in Iqaluit this past March.

Alicia Belcher of Edmonton faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of the proceeds of crime. Belcher was arrested in Yellowknife March 7 after RCMP searched a woman carrying $239,000 in cash.

The next day, police in Iqaluit arrested Darrean Hall and Jacob Friskie, both of Edmonton, for possession of trafficking. Hall and Friskie were charged immediately. It isn't clear why police waited until this past week to charge Belcher.

Belcher was released after her arrest and wasn't in court for a scheduled first appearance Tuesday. She's to appear in court in Iqaluit June. 17.

Hall and Friskie both had routine appearances in court this past Tuesday. Hall has been released to Edmonton, while Friskie remains in remand at Baffin Correctional Centre. They are also to appear in court again June 17.
