Photo: Art is big business at Ottawa trade show

Master carver Jaco Ishulutaq of Pangnirtung shows off some of his work at the 2016 Northern Lights conference and trade show in Ottawa Jan. 28. Ishulutaq was one of many carvers, jewelers, seamstresses, painters and photographers from across Inuit Nunangat who gathered at the trade show this week in Ottawa to network and make a few sales from the crowds of businesspeople, politicians and others spending their days at the Ottawa Convention Centre. The conference continued today with a keynote speech from Dwight Ball, premier of Newfoundland and Labrador along with afternoon workshops. The event wraps up Jan. 30 with more economic development and business-related workshops and a keynote speech from Nunavut premier Peter Taptuna. (PHOTO BY JIM BELL)
