Photo: Firefighters respond to Iqaluit fire alarm

Members of the Iqaluit Fire Department stand by early March 27 as they evacuate an apartment building on Niaquinngusiaq, by the Quick Stop on the way to Apex. A call about smoke alerted the firefighters to the scene at 8:50 a.m. Firemen determined that the smell of burning rubber had been caused by overheated electrical wiring in a private business on the ground floor, fire chief Luc Grandmaison said.
