Mary Anne Penashue of the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation in Labrador, who is finishing the third year of a fine arts diploma program at the Ottawa School of Art, displays her acrylic-on-canvas paintings at the Northern Lights 2016 show in Ottawa last week. The painting in the foreground on the right is titled “Ishkuess” or “A Young Girl.” Penashue’s work is on display until Feb. 27 in an exhibition called “My Culture” at The Fritzi Gallery on 1233 Wellington St. W., 2nd floor, in Ottawa.
